STRUCTURE

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Composed of the general membership, the General Assembly is the highest body of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectorial Associations.

THE BOARD
Elected by the General assembly for a two year period, the Board sets policies, approves the programme and budget of the Secretariat, forms sectoral committees, appoints the Secretary General and Committee Chairs.

 

THE PRESIDENT
Elected by the General Assembly for a period of two years the Presidency is an honorary part time appointment. The President Chairs the Board meetings and the annual General Assembly.

THE SECRETARY GENERAL
Appointed by the Board, the Secretary General heads the permanent staff who are responsible for the day to day running of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectorial Associations Secretariat. THE STAFF
The AACCSA is manned by a team of highly trained and dedicated staff headed by the Secretary General. The AACCSA today has 72 staff members, for purposes of providing efficient and effective services to its members. 26 staff members are degree holders, The rest constitute of highly skilled and experienced vocational graduates. 53% of AACCSA's staff members are female. Inorder to undertake its task, the AACCSA has designed and adopted a relatively lean but flexible structure making the AACCSA one of the most organized and result-oriented institutions in Ethiopia. WORKING COMMITTES
Several working committees, each of which focusing on specific issues of concern to the business community are designated to assist the Board. These committees include, among others,

  • Customs Committee
  • Land Lease Committee
  • Merkato Committee
  • Preshipment Inspection Committee
  • Public and Freight Transport Committee
  • Foreign Trade and Development Committee
  • Leather and Leather Products Manufacturing Committee
  • Stock Exchange Steering Committee
  • Green & Clean Addis Ababa Committee
  • Djibouti Port Committee
  • Tax and Finance Committee
Each committee, usually chaired by a member of the Board of Directors, is entrusted with the task of undertaking studies on trade constraints and thereby presenting prospective solutions and recommendations to the Board.
